Addictions

As with most issues, it is not one factor that causes addiction nor is one therapy the cure.    Dr. Gabor Mate notes, "addiction is neither a choice or disease but originates in a human being's attempt to solve a problem:  the problem of emotional pain, of overwhelming stress, of lost connection, of loss of control, of a deep discomfort with the self.  In short, it is a forlorn attempt to solve the problem of human pain.  So, the question is not why the addiction but why the pain."  Also, the opposite of addiction is not sobriety, it is connection." Johann Hari

We strive to find the origin of the pain, why it is there, what it is doing to help the individual, and using brain-body therapies to help the client make effective connections to its source.  Through processing and releasing, the client can begin to see their life without the addiction and what life looks like using the new found tools of regulation and resourcing and connection to remain stable.  In addition, the client participates in lifestyle changes that expand brain health including fitness, nutrition, massage, acupuncture, art, supplements, and other meaningful scientific interventions.  Together, we can help you heal, expand your knowledge and toolkit, and  develop life long significant change with long term results.

Outpatient treatment for addictions allows the individual the time, space, and support within an intensive format to learn, manage, and heal for optimal brain health.
